Essential Selfcare Habits For Entrepreneurs

Whether you’re a budding entrepreneur or a seasoned one, these essential selfcare habits will help in the long run so that you won’t experience burnout. Trust me, when you’re clocking in over 50 hours weekly, or balancing both a fulltime 9-to-5 and your own side hustles, life can get very hectic very fast.

That hustle & grind is the success mindset which will lead you far in life, but it’s important to also practice some much-needed selfcare practices to recharge and center yourself.

Here’s how…

1. Celebrate each victory

No matter how far you evolve at the end of this journey and the people you meet, the one person who is guaranteed to always be present, and the first one waiting for you at the finish line will be none other than yourself.

Hype yourself up, celebrate each victory no matter how small! Write about it in your journal, celebrate with your circle of bosspreneurs, or open up about your experiences (challenges and wins) on your social media, you’ll be surprised how many people will empathize or resonate with you for being so transparent about your path. Even better, you can celebrate with your favorite form of selfcare, whether that’s applying a fancy facemask that feels divine, or clocking out for the rest of the day to sip a lemonade on your balcony. You choose how you want to spoil yourselves, queens!

It doesn’t matter if said win is fixing a glitchy plugin on your blog or troubleshooting a buggy contact form (I’m sure endless bloggers can relate), or if you only managed to write a to-do list for next week for your business… Why, you ask? Because darling, we have to focus on the end goal, and each little win is a step closer to lifestyle of our dreams and the career of our dreams!

By making each success count, you are building up your confidence and your sense of satisfaction. Whatever your enterprise or business, it takes dedication and energy to make it happen, and you deserve to celebrate it.

2. Balancing the analytical/creative energy

When you feel too deeply anchored in your head, your analytical thinking – pause and take the time needed to lean into your creative, receptive side. Put aside any to-do lists or tasks and just start sketching, drawing, or whatever fuels you with inspiration and creative energy.

If you’re feeling stuck, what always helps is getting in tune with your inner child, let your creative energy roam wild without any judgement or expectations. No rating, no analyzing your work, no comparing. Just dig deep into that creative energy the way children do – boldly, confidently, with pure delight. You will see this helps with releasing any mental blockages you may have.

3. Daily selfcare habits

When you’re hustling 24/7 (as is often the case for new business owners), it’s easy and ultimately unavoidable to burn out. This is why it’s important to practice a little self-awareness and check in with yourself before that happens. Notice before your battery starts going on red alert, by listening to your intuition, your mind and body. There are so many ways you can recharge.

  • Physically: take a nap, get some sleep, exercise, go for a jog, yoga.
  • Mentally: write in your diary, journal, empty the contents of your mind by scribbling to your heart’s content.
  • Spiritually: meditate, breathing exercises, praying (whatever resonates with your religion or spirituality).
  • Emotionally: talk with friends and family, open up your heart to soulful conversations, let yourself be heart and listen to others actively, do meaningful activities with others, appreciate the joy of being part of a community.

4. Focus on your path

Nothing good comes of comparison. I know it’s easy to get distracted by what other bloggers, influencers, YouTubers, etc are doing while you’re deriving inspiration, but the truth is no matter how far you are in your success, there will always be others who are more x y z than you. And that’s normal, because everybody has their own path. But that doesn’t mean a thing!

In the end, vanity metric and success markers are all relative. Happiness and success looks different for you than it does for them. Nobody else is you, and nobody else follows your path. You have to focus on what YOU want to achieve for your life, what your vision and dream lifestyle is, because at the end of the day that’s the life you are going to be living, so might as well invest your energy into the best and greatest investment: yourself.

5. Join a community with a growth mindset

To a smaller or greater degree, another thing that is important for your mental health and wellbeing, as well as the success of your business, is this: having a healthy, nurturing environment. This means your circle of friends, acquaintances and even family. Except for the latter, this is something you can exert full control over. By carefully curating the kind of people you surround yourself with, you will make sure that they 1) inspire you 2) motivate you 3) are equally ambitious, driven and disciplined 4) most importantly, they have a growth mindset as well.

Nothing deflates your enthusiasm as a budding entrepreneur more than people with narrow thinking or scarcity mindset, such people are usually too limited in their experiences, can be negative, bitter, don’t have the best of intentions, or just generally don’t resonate on the same blue-sky-thinking mindset as you do. In such cases (and I would advise, in almost all cases), it’s best to keep your business private.

Also, when the community you’re in doesn’t inspire you, instead you are the only one who’s ambitious and open minded, you might start to feel complacent and unmotivated as a consequence. On the other hand, when you relocate yourself to a community where you can look up to others, feel inspired by their achievements and talents, their experience, the steps for further growth are put right in front of you. You can give each other guidance and advice, nurture that enthusiasm, and only further help each other better yourselves.

Just like a plant, you thrive in a nurturing environment. The bottom line? Surround yourself with the kind of person (people) you want to become.

Much love always...
