So you’ve just finished setting up your blog, now what? There are 5 key things you need in order to make sure your blog is set up for success by creating magnetic content for your new audience. Let’s get right into it!
1. Authenticity

The most important thing you need in order to write magnetic content as a new blogger is authenticity. But what do we mean by authenticity exactly? It means that the value and information you provide to your audience is done so with integrity. It’s not just an ad for a product that you have zero association or belief in.
All the products, services and things you recommend, by default you are associating them with your brand, so if you’re filling your blog with things you don’t believe in, readers will know. If you were in their position, you wouldn’t want to be underestimated either would you? You’d want quality content, not just someone who’s in it for the monetary gains alone. There’s nothing wrong with monetizing your business, your blog, whatever you’re passionate about doing, but it is important to do it with authenticity – that way you’re setting yourself up for success down the line!
Otherwise, if you’re not exercising caution and setting standards and principles about what you’ll present on your blog, this may become a liability down the line in terms of your reputation and brand. That’s why it’s better to stay on track from the start and not shoot yourself in the foot.
2. Confidence

As humans, we are naturally drawn to strong-minded people who boldly claim their path, we look up to them and admire them because in the end, we all aspire to reach the same level of confidence.
Confidence is magnetic, it relays to others that you believe in yourself and as a consequence they will want to believe in you too. After all, if you don’t believe in yourself and what you say and what you think, why should others? Let your self-confidence, your self-assurance and authority shine through your words, people always feel more at ease and relaxed in the presence of people that know what they want and are not wishy-washy.
3. Originality

One mistake I’ve seen a lot of bloggers (even seasoned ones) do is that they become blinded by a mythical formula to succeed, namely by trying to replicate what other successful blogs are doing. While this approach make work to a certain point, it is key to understand that what makes a brand, a business, a blog or any online content creator successful, is originality!
That means that you should start your path from what YOU are passionate about. You should start from your favorite topics and see how you can make them all connect. Write about what you know, about what you wish you knew, about all the things that interest you. By honoring your passion, you will attract other people who are interested in those things just like you. By carving your own path, you are giving yourself permission to run free and create according to your intuition – and who knows where it will lead you?
People are interested in diversity, in a million and one different things. If all bloggers catered to the same 5%, the remaining 95% of the audience would be left uncharted and with nobody catering to them, and so missing out on an opportunity. Who knows, the exact combination of topics that interest you, are what a hundred, a thousand other people or more are also interested in – but there’s no trend, or market, or popular blogs to fill that niche – and that’s where you come in.
So yes, learning from others is a boss move – but make sure you don’t fall into the trap of just replicating what others are doing instead of focusing on how they’re doing it (with all the 5 key points mentioned here).
4. Personality

This is important to differentiate from originality or authenticity and I’ll explain why. In order to make your blog stand out, the easiest as well as the best way is to imbue it with your personality! What does this mean? It’s all about letting your personality shine through. Whether it’s personalizing the blog through its aesthetic design (customizing the theme; your logo; your brand), or the voice and tone of your articles, or the overall energy of your blog, your blog will resonate more with others if it feels more personal, more real, more humane. Don’t just write technical how-to tips, whatever your niche is – I heartily recommend to write more personal articles as well, which offer further value to your readers and they will also be able to bond emotionally because you’re more transparent and empathic. Empathy is key here.
5. Dedication

Like with any other enterprise, dedicating time, energy and effort to your new blog will also contribute to creating magnetic content. Why? Because when you’re dedicated, it will show to your readers that you’re professional and committed to your platform. This means having the patience and focus to do research that your new articles or pages need, it means replying to questions in a thoughtful manner that offers value even to comment section, it means always reading up on new ways you can improve your platform, collecting surveys from your readers to determine what new articles or areas of interest are most wanted, and so much more.
In essence, through dedication you are conveying to your growing audience that your platform is a safe home to be in, and a worthy platform to invest time in, because they’re in good, reliable hands. Think of it from a reader’s perspective: you wouldn’t want to cozy up to a blog that looks deserted or neglected, right? People are naturally drawn (even online) to places that make them feel good, whether it’s through the information your blog offers, the look of it, or the underlying message(s) of your blog and brand.
